SNETTERTON – 12th – 13th JUNE 2021
What a weekend for Tom!
Tom returned to Snetterton at the weekend, a circuit that he found most difficult to be competitive at last year. In preparation for this season he spent a few extra days testing at the complex track to try and improve on last year’s performance. And, although the additional time on track certainly proved fruitful, it in no way gave any indication that he was going to be quite so quick in the racing.
Qualifying went well on Saturday and Tom managed to achieve pole position with a dominant performance over a very competitive 27 car grid.
In race one, Tom was beaten off the line, but he made a brave move for the lead halfway round the first lap, then held the lead to the end for a well-deserved victory – however, post-race the steward’s deemed his move to be unfair and he was penalised three places to finish 4th.
In race two, Tom started 2nd on the grid and through an error in the starting procedure dropped to 7th. Tom’s race craft shone through however, as he weaved through the pack in his redemption of 2nd place.
In race three, Tom began the first lap in 2nd position to swiftly capture the lead then being able to pull off a strong safety car restart and was able to maintain his lead under pressure from behind to the chequered flag.
Overall, it was a hugely positive weekend as Tom is leading with 17 points in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
